DENTAL CLEANINGS & PREVENTION

Dental cleanings are a very important part of your overall health and well being. Here at Destiny Dental recommend at least two cleanings a year to keep your mouth healthy. Current research continues to show that regular cleanings and a healthy mouth are of vital importance to your overall health. The constant inflammation and infection associated with gingivitis (swollen gums) and periodontal disease (deep pocketing around teeth with bone loss) put a huge strain on your body and its immune system. If your gums bleed when you brush or floss, you have a problem. At Destiny Dental we have a strong lifelong health approach through soft tissue management programs and continuing care. Schedule today for us to help your path to superior oral health.

DENTAL RESTORATION

At Destiny Dental we place tooth colored resin restorations. As well as being more cosmetic (they blend in with your tooth color) resins respond more more like natural teeth to temperature and pressure in the mouth than the old black fillings (amalgams). These restorations are also "bonded" to the tooth to provide more strength.

FILLINGS

Fillings have come a long way and are now available as composite, bonded, tooth colored fillings. They are strong, wear resistant, and because they are bonded, they actually reinforce the tooth and they look great.

CROWNS AND BRIDGES

Crowns are very strong and by using the latest techniques can be very aesthetic. They are suitable for both front teeth and back teeth. When strength is a necessity, these crowns are still number one. By using a porcelain margin at the gum line, we do not get the gray line seen on so many older crowns.

COSMETIC DENTISTRY

At Destiny Dental our doctors have had extensive cosmetic training in many different techniques. They have worked with the top names, even hosting a screening for the Extreme Makeover television show. There are many different cosmetic dentistry choices at our office. These include whitening, tooth straightening, tooth colored restorations, porcelain veneers, and even recontouring or reshaping of teeth. These days if you look at the mirror and wish to change something about your smile, it can most likely be done. Tell Dr. Davis or Dr. Robertson what you would like to accomplish, and let them put their 20 years plus each of cosmetic experience to work with you.

Straighter Teeth. Healthier Gums. Easier Cleanings. Invisalign is the clear way to straighten teeth. Invisalign gradually moves your teeth through a series of custom-made, removable, nearly invisible Aligners. It's removable for good hygiene. You can brush and floss normally, which can prevent tooth decay and gum disease. Some orthodontic appliances, like braces, can cause gingivitis. Your gum health may improve. Research has shown that periodontal tissue health may improve with use of Invisalign Aligners during your orthodontic treatment. You can still eat what you want. Because the Aligners are removable you don't have to worry about what you eat. Ask our staff if Invisalign is right for you.

There are a couple methods used for teeth whitening. One is to make custom molds of each patient's individual teeth and provide them with a whitening gel to be used at home. This safe and proven method has worked well and allows the patient to touch up the shade when they feel it necessary. The other method of whitening is done in our office. Our whitening system can usually whiten teeth in one appointment. Ask us which method is right for you.

PERIODONTAL DENTISTRY

This is considered one of the quiet epidemic diseases. It is estimated well over 70% of adults have periodontal disease and may not even be aware. This issue can only be diagnosed through radiographs and a full mouth assessment. Our goal is to return the tissue to the healthiest state possible non-surgically, and then help you maintain that level of health. Periodontal disease is the number one cause of tooth loss! Advanced stages may require localized surgery to save compromised teeth. Call us to check today.

SLEEP APNEA APPLIANCES

More and more research is showing undiagnosed sleep apnea can be a trigger for a multitude of health problems. Many confirmed sleep apnea patients find they cannot comfortably wear a C-pap machine. There are multiple oral appliances which have been found to accomplish the same goal of opening the nighttime airway through mandibular advancement, or gently pulling the lower jaw forward. The tongue moves forward with the lower jaw opening the airway and also alleviating snoring. Many of our patients (including our own Dr. Robertson!) have found these appliances to be the key to comfortable, restful nights. Call us today to see if sleep appliances are right for you.

BITE GUARDS

Many people clench and grind their teeth during sleep and bite guards can help with this. We have both full coverage and partial coverage bite guards. As our stress levels have increased with the quickening of our lifestyle, dentists have seen a sharp increase in tooth grinding and its associated problems. Grinding and clenching are potentiated by stress, but often an undetected bite, or occlusion issue is the root cause. Grinding and clenching lead to excessive tooth wear, cracked teeth, and even fractured teeth. If can also lead to problems with TMJ (Tempormandibular Joint) and associated muscles. At times, joint issues can cause severe pain. Our doctors at Destiny Dental can do a full bite assessment and advise you of your numerous treatment options. Bite guards are a non-invasive way to protect the teeth from each other, slowing down wear, and taking stress off the muscles of TMJ. Call today for you full assessment.
